Narrator to Know: Jim Dale

Jim Dale’s voice brought to life one of the world’s most treasured series. His talent lent its voice to some of the most iconic characters ever written.

Jim Dale is the voice of many famous works, including the iconic Harry Potter series. His command of voice over the written word is both acute and far-reaching, giving precision and range to his performances of some of the world’s most beloved stories.

Dale was inducted into the Audible Narrator Hall of Fame in 2017 and if we’re behind honest, we’re not sure why it took so long.

His work with The Harry Potter series has earned him national acclaim. His talent brought to life for an entire generation of listeners the Wizarding World we know and love so very well. Ask an audio book fan of the series and they will often tell you that the characters ring more true with Dale’s voice interpretation of them than they do in their silver screen depictions.

More than that, Dale has lent his voice talent to these wonderful titles:

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie, Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne, Return to the Hundred Acre Wood by David Benedictus, Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev, The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross, Grimm’s Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm, A Sick Day for Amos Lee by Philip C. Stead, The Boy with the Cuckoo-Clock Heart by Mathias Malzieu (translated by Sarah Ardizzone), and Charles Dickens’s The Cricket on the Hearth.
